Atocha1.jpg

Wreck of the 'Atocha' Spanish galleon on the Florida Keys. Discovered in the 1980's and yeilding millions of dollars in treasure. Model was built for a collector in Ohio. The hull measures about 9" long.
Many collectors commission a shipwreck model because they have artifacts recovered from the wreck and a model is a dramatic way of telling the story of those relics. A larger model of the Atocha was recently completed for the Mel Fisher museum in Key West Florida. see home page for video link.
